Which shopping mall in Tallinn should you choose?
The best shopping malls in Tallinn serve different trips: a broad store run, family errands, central fashion, entertainment, or a film or concert alongside shopping. Ülemiste, Rocca al Mare, Viru Keskus, T1 and Solaris are the strongest all-round options to compare, but choosing by location and purpose is more useful than treating a Google score as a league table.
The ratings below are public review averages from Google Maps, checked on 21 October 2026. Operator pages were used for transport, parking and facilities. Store lists, opening hours and parking terms change, so check the centre’s live directory before travelling for a specific shop.
1. Ülemiste Centre: the broadest one-stop trip near the airport
Google Maps: 4.6/5 (rating and map). At Suur-Sõjamäe 4, Ülemiste is on Tallinn’s airport side. It is the best first check when your list spans fashion, electronics, home goods, services and food and you want to handle them in one place. The centre also has a play area and a large range of food and leisure options, which can turn a routine shopping stop into a longer family visit.
Its visitor information is unusually useful for planning: the centre publishes live occupancy information, has digital maps, baby rooms, pushchair hire and wheelchair rental, and lists buses, trams and the Ülemiste train stop. Parking is free for five hours before becoming paid. That makes it a practical airport-day stop, but not a quick Old Town errand; allow time to reach the centre and walk between stores. See the official visitor and accessibility information and store directory before you set off.
2. Rocca al Mare: a full family and grocery run in western Tallinn
Google Maps: 4.6/5 (rating and map). Rocca al Mare is at Paldiski mnt 102 in Haabersti. The centre lists more than 130 stores, dining, and two supermarkets, Prisma and Selver, making it a strong choice when the job is practical shopping across several categories rather than a quick browse downtown. Its western location is convenient if you are already in Haabersti or combining errands with nearby attractions.
The centre’s live directory is searchable by category and floor, which is helpful when you need one exact shop. Driving is straightforward: the operator lists more than 1,250 parking spaces, but the current terms give visitors two free hours, with paid parking after that; extended free time is available for some centre services when registered with the provider. Don’t rely on older guides that say parking is simply free. Check the current store directory and parking terms and directions before planning a long visit. It is less convenient than Viru for a short Old Town detour.
3. Viru Keskus: central fashion, food and public transport
Google Maps: 4.3/5 (rating and map). Viru Keskus at Viru väljak 4–6 is the easiest of these malls to add to a central Tallinn day. Its fashion and beauty shops, bookstore and food hall make it useful when you need a familiar shopping stop without leaving the city centre. The bus terminal beneath the centre is a major advantage if you are moving around Tallinn without a car.
The trade-off is that this is a central retail centre, not a destination for a long drive-and-shop day or a separate family attraction. Tenant hours can differ from centre hours, so verify your must-visit store in the official visitor and shop information. Pair it with Old Town sightseeing when the weather is poor or you want shops, lunch and transit close together.
4. T1 Mall of Tallinn: shopping with a Skywheel and indoor activities
Google Maps: 4.2/5 (rating and map). T1 is at Peterburi tee 2, in the Ülemiste area. It is the clearest pick if you want an indoor activity as well as shops: its Skywheel ride takes about 12 minutes and its weatherproof gondolas are designed for year-round views. The official page says the gondolas are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The centre also lists family attractions and visitor services.
T1’s public score is the lowest among these five, so pick it for its entertainment offer and check that its current stores match your shopping list. It can be a good rainy-day option, but check Skywheel hours, ticket prices and attraction availability separately; a mall being open does not guarantee every attraction is operating. Start with the official Skywheel details and current T1 visitor information.
5. Solaris: downtown design, cinema and culture
Google Maps: 4.4/5 (rating and map). Solaris at Estonia pst 9 combines central shopping with entertainment. Visit Estonia lists the Alexela Concert Hall, Apollo Cinema, Artis Art Film Centre, restaurants and Estonian and Baltic design stores. This is the best fit if you want to browse local design, catch an art-house film or build an evening around a concert.
Solaris is not the largest all-purpose shopping destination in this group. Its advantage is what surrounds the shops: culture and dining within a central location. Check the Visit Estonia Solaris guide for facilities, then check cinema or concert schedules directly if an event is the main reason for going.
Tallinn malls compared by trip type
| Your priority | Best fit | Why | | --- | --- | --- | | Many categories in one visit | Ülemiste | Broad directory, live occupancy and family services | | Groceries, family errands and western Tallinn | Rocca al Mare | 130+ stores, two supermarkets and large parking area | | Central fashion and transit | Viru Keskus | City-centre location and bus terminal | | Indoor family activity | T1 | Skywheel and other attractions alongside shops | | Local design, cinema or concert | Solaris | Culture and retail in the city centre |
How to make a Tallinn mall visit efficient
Search the store directory before you leave, note its floor and check that day’s opening time. For a large centre, group the shops by floor and decide whether you are going for a specific errand or a half-day outing. If you are driving, check parking duration and payment rules rather than relying on an old travel blog; both free periods and conditions can change. If using public transport, check the stop and route for the particular centre rather than assuming the closest-looking pin is the entrance.
Ülemiste and T1 sit on the airport side of the city; Rocca al Mare is a west Tallinn trip; Viru and Solaris are the natural downtown choices. Do not combine distant centres in a tight itinerary just because each appears close on a map. For an airport-day stop, Ülemiste is a stronger fit than travelling across town. For a central day, Viru or Solaris saves the detour.

What the ratings do and do not tell you
Google scores are public average ratings from Maps, checked on 21 October 2026. They are not a direct comparison of store choice, cleanliness, transport or customer service, and they can change. For a useful decision, compare the centre’s location and the specific stores you need first; use reviews only as one additional signal.
